This particular whisky from the Ben Nevis Distillery has a unique history starting in Spain. In 2010, the spirit was laid down in a traditional Spanish oak cask, where it would lie until 2025. This produced a heavy, rich and bold liquid that carried a distinctive fruity, mineral and slightly savoury character. Yet, despite encouraging feedback from all of our engagements, East Asia Whisky felt there was something missing…
This is why we decided to move maturation to our signature Hokkaido Mizunara oak. The very short maturation that commenced in late 2025 surprised us when we checked the liquid in 2026. Finally, in August 2026, we decided to bottle it at 45.8%, having tested every strength from 60% to 43% ABV.
The final result is creamy, fruity and wonderfully caramel-esque; a single malt to satisfy all palates.
